Artexing is a specialist decorative skill that allows you to create a wide range of textured finishes on walls and ceilings. It is ideal for people who enjoy practical work, have a creative eye and take pride in achieving a high-quality finish.

At Century Training Academy, we offer foundation and advanced courses covering different aspects of artexing. Our experienced trainers will teach you how to prepare surfaces, apply textured coatings and install decorative features safely and accurately. Whether you are learning a new trade or developing your existing skills, we will provide practical support throughout your training.

Our course options

What will you learn?

Our courses are designed to provide the practical skills and knowledge needed to complete artexing and decorative finishing work confidently. Depending on your course and current ability, you can learn:

• Essential health and safety procedures
• How to prepare walls and ceilings for decorative finishes
• How to select and use the correct tools and materials
• How to mix and apply textured coatings
• How to produce a range of textured finishes
• How to install coving and decorative mouldings
• How to work accurately around corners, edges and fittings
• How to identify and resolve common application problems
• How to achieve a clean, consistent and professional finish
   

Nationally recognised qualifications

Our team tailors learning to the individual, making sure you build confidence and have the best possible chance of success. You can learn at a pace that suits your needs and abilities. It does not matter whether it takes you six months or two years—we will be here to support you.

Our courses can lead to nationally recognised qualifications. We are fully accredited by awarding bodies including the National Open College Network and Gateway Qualifications.

We offer several levels of qualification based on your abilities, and we will only put you forward for a qualification when we believe you are ready and have the best chance of passing.

1. Certificate of CompetenceWe offer an in-house Certificate of Competence stating that you have completed a course to high standards at Century Training Academy.
2. Award certificateAn award certificate at Level 1 signifies a foundational level of knowledge and skills, broadly equivalent to a GCSE short course at foundation tier.
3. Extended certificateAn extended certificate is a vocational training qualification, like a BTEC, available at Level 2 and Level 3 that combines practical and theoretical study to prepare students for employment or further education.
